HIGH SUMMER TEA
. Brewing it up in the test kitchen at Rasa Veda Apothecary, Tea House, and Curios
This is a tea I have been making for myself throughout the summer.
I brew a large batch in the evening and let it steep overnight. By morning, it is chilled and ready to drink throughout the day.
There is something I love about having a pitcher of herbal tea waiting in the refrigerator. It asks very little of me. I simply pour a glass and drink.
The peppermint brings a clear, refreshing coolness. Rose softens the blend and offers its beautiful aromatic presence. Oat straw brings gentle nourishment. Burdock adds an earthy grounding quality, while licorice gives the tea a natural sweetness and rounds everything out.
High Summer Tea Recipe:
1 part peppermint
1 part rose petals
1 part oat straw
½ part burdock root
½ part licorice root
Place the herbs in a large glass jar or heatproof vessel and cover with freshly boiled water. Cover and allow to steep overnight.
Strain in the morning and refrigerate.
Enjoy chilled & warm
This is not a complicated medicine.
It is simply a way of putting good plants into your day.
Note: Licorice is not appropriate for everyone and can interact with certain medications and health conditions. If you are pregnant, taking medication, managing a health condition, or have been advised to avoid licorice, please check with your healthcare provider before using it regularly.
